ASA

The CISCO ASA masks certain passwords in the configuration when using the ‘show configuration’ or ‘show run’ command. Please note that this is different than encrypted passwords.

Example (show run):
snmp-server host inside {internal IP} community ***** version 2c
snmp-server host inside {internal IP} community ***** version 2c

By issuing the command ‘more system:running-config’ instead the masked passwords will now be visible in the output.

Example (more system:running-config):
snmp-server host inside {internal IP} community 'password' version 2c
snmp-server host inside {internal IP} community 'password' version 2c
